A spot of gardening is a great way to calm the nerves. I’d like to share a gardening tip with you. If your eggplant flowers are dropping instead of forming fruit, it’s often due to poor pollination, uneven watering, temperature extremes, early or late planting, or unbalanced fertilizing. To help your plants thrive, hand-pollinate blooms by gently tapping them or using a clean electric toothbrush to mimic insect vibrations. Keep the soil evenly moist, neither soggy nor dry, and protect your plants when daytime temperatures rise above 35 °C or fall below 13 °C at night. Choose varieties suited to your climate, and once flowers appear, switch from nitrogen-heavy fertilizer to one richer in phosphorus and potassium to encourage fruit development.

Just when your day needed a laugh — here it is. Today’s joke is “You’ve Been Warned.”

It’s a mellow evening at a cozy vegan diner. The booths smell faintly of rosemary and oat milk lattes. At a corner table, two policemen finish their vegan jackfruit burgers and sweet potato fries. The waitress strolls over with a smile.

“Hope the jackfruit hit the spot, officers!”

“Delicious. How much do I owe you?”

“It’s twenty dollars cash for both of you, unless you want to pay by credit card, with a warning.”

“A warning? What do you mean?

“A warning not to eat elsewhere because our vegan dishes are the best in town!”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Yun-Tzu in Taiwan, also known as Formosa
