The US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio has granted the right to be legally recognized to a community of around 135 hippopotamus-people living in Colombia. The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), acting on their behalf, is requesting two American experts to give information in a Colombian court case regarding what medicines the Colombian government should give them. ALDF is also acting on behalf of a horse-person named Justice, and suing a human who had mercilessly abused him. Furthermore, The Nonhuman Rights Project is representing an elephant-person named Happy in court, who they describe as being “unlawfully imprisoned” in a New York City zoo and say should be granted freedom so she can move to an elephant sanctuary.
